Each year at the end of February, the VSOP (Patient Alliance for Rare and Genetic Diseases) organises the “National Rare Disease Day” event. This annual event highlights the challenges faced by people living with a rare disease, as well as their families, informal carers, healthcare professionals and researchers. The event will be held in Dutch at De Eenhoorn, Amersfoort.

Programme

The programme will address key topics related to rare diseases in the Netherlands, including:

  • – The National Plan for Rare Diseases
  • – The organisation of rare disease expertise centres
  • – National Reference Networks
  • – Orphan drugs for rare diseases

The event is primarily aimed at patient representatives, healthcare providers and researchers active in the field of rare diseases in the Netherlands. A highlight of the programme will be the presentation of the Rare Angel Awards, recognising individuals or organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to improving the lives of people living with rare diseases.
